Creating Tasks with Siri

Creating tasks with Siri is available to customers with a TaskFire Premium account. Siri does not talk to TaskFire directly. Instead you add a CalDAV account to your device, Siri puts the task into Apple Reminders, and TaskFire collects it from there. Setting this up takes a couple of minutes and only needs doing once per device.

What you will need

• Your TaskFire email address and password
• The server address: siri.taskfireapp.com

Setting it up on iPhone or iPad

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. This is the device's own Settings app, not the TaskFire app.
2. Use the search bar at the top of Settings and search for Add CalDAV Account, then tap the result. Searching is the most reliable way to find it, because Apple has moved this menu several times over the years. If you would rather navigate manually, it currently sits under Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts > Add Account > Other.
3. Enter the following:
   • Server: siri.taskfireapp.com
   • User Name: your TaskFire email address
   • Password: your TaskFire password
   • Description: TaskFire
4. Tap Next and let it verify the account.
5. On the next screen, turn Reminders ON and Calendar OFF, then tap Save.
6. Go back to Settings > Apps > Reminders and set the Default List to TaskFire. This is what tells Siri where to put new tasks.

Setting it up on a Mac

The TaskFire list you see in the Reminders app on a Mac comes from this CalDAV account rather than from the TaskFire app itself. That is why reinstalling the TaskFire app does not bring the list back if it disappears.

1. Open System Settings, then Internet Accounts.
2. Click Add Account, then Other account, then CalDAV account.
3. Change Account Type to Manual. This step matters. The Automatic option tries to find the server from your email address and cannot work here.
4. Enter the following:
   • User Name: your TaskFire email address
   • Password: your TaskFire password
   • Server Address: siri.taskfireapp.com
5. Click Sign In. Your TaskFire list will appear in the Reminders app.

If a TaskFire entry is already listed under Internet Accounts and is not working, remove it before adding the new one so that you do not end up with two.

Using Siri once it is set up

Start with "Remember to..." rather than "Remind me to...". Both work, but "Remind me to" makes Siri ask you for a date and time before it saves anything.

• A simple task: "Hey Siri, remember to send the report." This goes into your default list.
• Into a particular list: "Hey Siri, remember to call John caret Work." Say the word "caret" out loud and Siri types the ^ symbol. The task is filed into your list named Work. The list has to already exist in TaskFire.
• A quick checklist: "Hey Siri, remember to go shopping colon milk comma bananas comma oranges." This creates a task called "go shopping" with milk, bananas and oranges as checklist items.

Where the task goes

Your task lands in Apple Reminders for a moment and TaskFire then pulls it across into your inbox. This usually happens quickly enough that you never see it in Reminders at all. Open TaskFire on your device and it will sync, and the task will be there.

If it does not work

If the account will not verify, or your TaskFire list has vanished from Reminders, check that the server address reads exactly siri.taskfireapp.com. An older address was published in this article for some time and no longer works reliably, so an account set up before August 2026 may need removing and adding again using the steps above.
